This week Felixstowe Port was used as the backdrop for the semi final of Landscape Artist of the Year.  The ever popular programme that is aired on Sky Arts and the new series is due to start going out in the Autumn.

Screen Suffolk managed the waterside location on behalf of The Harwich Haven Authority and ensured that the artists pods were positioned perfectly to take in the stunning view of the countries largest working port.  As well as this the land next to the beach was transformed into a Unit Base for Storyvault Films who produce the show.

Presenters Steven Mangan and Joan Bakewell were on set for the whole day keeping tabs on the works in progress.  The backdrop changed several times as huge container ships entered and left the port casting looming silhouettes on the scene. The eight artists painted for a full day in the blazing sunshine and you’ll have to tune in later in the year to see the work they made on one of the hottest days of the year.
